Cities Timanfaya is a revolutionary project consisting on an autonomous technology demonstrator to be ready in the spring of 2020. The tour of the Route of the Volcanoes in Timanfaya National Park (Lanzarote, Canary Islands) will be carried out with last generation vehicles, electric, autonomous and multimedia.
Funded by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), the project began in November 2018, after the signing of the contract between the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT) of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Spanish Road Association (project coordinator). The technology demonstrator, an electric and autonomous microbus, is expected to be running in April or May XNUMX. A few months later, using the same technology, electric and autonomous buses will replace the existing diesel buses.
With a budget of just over one million euros from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), CITIES Timanfaya will put Spain on the driverless mobility world map.
