On Monday, June 3, a meeting of the CITIES Timanfaya group was held with officials from the Ministry of Industry.

The Ministry, Galo Gutierrez (General Director of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises), José Manuel Prieto (Deputy General Director of Quality and Industrial Safety) and Juan Alberto Ortigosa (Head of the Automotive Area) have attended. On behalf of CITIES, Elena de la Peña, representative of the Spanish Road Association, coordinator of the project, Ricardo Chicharro, from 2RK, and the Professor of the Carlos III University of Madrid, José Luis San Román, participated.

In addition to presenting the project, its current status and the support received to date, the CITIES group transferred to those responsible for Industry their concern about the difficulties that current legislation poses for the development of autonomous mobility; obstacles that directly affect the project.

The possibility of testing at a level of 5 autonomy, the approval of the circulation of these vehicles, the technical inspection or other equivalents are some of the pending issues, for which the participants in the meeting agreed to keep in close contact during the next few months.

This meeting gives continuity to the one maintained a few weeks ago with the Director of Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Teresa Riesgo.
